How To Save Money On Your Travel Insurance

March 25, 2008

We travel abroad for many different reasons hopefully it will be a much needed holiday and break away from work for a couple of weeks, if youre not so lucky then your trip will be due to work. Whatever the reason for your travel you are still going to need to take out travel insurance and this only adds onto the expense of planes tickets, hotel rooms and spending money. However there are ways that you can reduce the cost of your travel insurance, here is some advice on how to do just that.

As a general rule of thumb if you intend to go away more than two times a year then without a doubt you will benefit from taking out an annual policy, this means that for a one off fee you will be covered no matter how many times you venture abroad. However for this one off fee there will be a set maximum number of days that you can be away, this will usually be somewhere between 30 and 60 days. Trips will usually be defined as either business or travel overseas and winter sports will usually be included, although for a limited number of days.

Single trip travel insurance is thought to be the most expensive way of buying travel insurance; however it can work out at good value if you dont go away very often. If you are taking this type of cover then there are some points to take into account.

One point to watch out for is taking out more cover than you are ever going to need, for example the insurer could try to persuade you to take out a special offer
